Last year I posted about our experience with one of the mail order dinner box services, so here now is an update on what we’re doing these days!
Actually we tried out several different boxes and for a while were big fans of Blue Apron (read that post here.)
The dinner boxes were all good. And the meals were all fairly easy to make in the time the recipe indicated (I always take longer to prep, and usually am doing other things at the same time, like watching Jeopardy.)
But the service we’ve migrated to and have stuck with is actually Home Chef.
I found the recipes at Home Chef to be more my speed, with lots of options for carb-free and vegetarian meals that are still substantial and filling enough for the girls and their calorie needs (they’re athletes, so pretty much eat all the time.)
The meals I receive easily feed 4 people, and there is usually enough for leftovers. And each box includes two full meals. The recipes are on a single sheet and have both pictures and explanation of what you’re doing. It is very hard to screw up – they even tell you the level of difficulty of the recipe!
So if you’re thinking of trying out a meal delivery service, give Home Chef a try.
Let me know if you want a link for a discount – I’ll send it right away and we’ll both get a discount! I’d love that, since I’m ordering 2-3 times a month from them.
Here are two recipes I’ve made recently with Home Chef – one is a salmon dish that was roasted with sauteed veggies and the other was a main dish salad with chicken and carmelized onions. Both were very good and my family ate them up!
Give it a try!
