Back in January when people were talking about resolutions, I jumped on the bandwagon and foolishly published my 2017 goals in a blog post. You can read it here.
Luckily, I only have a handful of readers, and none of you are very judgy. Because I’ve been terrible at keeping some of these goals.
I promise here and now to get it together and focus more on my food-and blog-related goals. I haven’t reviewed a single cookbook for you, but I did purchase several. So I’ll get on that. And I haven’t written down much in the way of recipe reviews either. Sorry. But I have started my new series – 10 Steps to Managing Your Kitchen! Check it out here.
I have managed to remain active and to keep up my weekly running without getting injured or bored. It helps that I signed up for some ridiculously difficult races, the last of which I’ll be attempting to run this coming weekend. And I tried to incorporate some additional cross-training activities into my life as well. Some days it’s good and other days not so much, but I’m going to keep trying!
In any case, here’s an overall update on where I am with things now that we’re ¼ of the way into 2017.
Healthy eating and weight loss: my lifestyle changes are working!
This week I weighed in a full 10.7 pounds less than I was on January 1. This is a major win for me! I wrote in January that I needed to lose 15 pounds, but my real goal is 20. So I’m halfway there! Yay! And honestly, I’m not dieting. But I have learned a lot about food and what works for me. I won’t bore you with details, but I will say that it looks like I’ve found the right combination to slowly move my body in the right direction.
Running: Yes, I’m trying to run 1,000 miles again in 2017.
As of today I’m at 253. Which is only a few miles off of pace for it being April 7th– just over 1/4 of the way through the year. I was surprised at the number, because I feel like I’ve taken days off that would keep me from staying on pace – those days it snowed, for example. But it looks like things are progressing well so far and if I can avoid injury, Q2 will look good as well!
I’m also falling behind on the “collaborating with my friends on foods and family friendly activities.” So with that in mind, please let me know if there is a recipe or activity you’d like to try. Or if you’d like to do a guest post on the blog, or if you have an activity that is not to be missed. I’d love to hear what you are interested in! I’ll be stalking your Pinterest pages as well!
Thanks so much for reading, and please don’t forget to like my social media and share the blog posts with your friends. The more input I have the better!
